Quantus Weekly: A Fairer Launch

Early Bitcoin miners could mine thousands of BTC a day on a laptop.

Bitcoin CPU mining was ONLY viable for basically 2 years.

As the network grew, so did hashrate. GPU mining became more viable, then ASICs.

By the time you first heard about BTC, mining on consumer hardware was already dead.

There was no exchange to buy on.

Since there was no secondary market, there was no “price.”

To get a “price,” you estimated electricity costs per coin.

By the time you could market buy, most the coins had been distributed.

Bitcoin emitted over half its coins in the first four years.

All of it went to early miners.

So that’s the standard for a “fair launch”.

We can probably do better.

When we prepare to launch @QuantusNetwork, we’re prioritizing making mining accessible from day one.

You can get a mining node running on our testnet today in a few clicks.

Last week we updated our GUI miner app. Even if you’re not technical, you can be ready for mainnet mining on day one.

Core Tech & ZK:

  • Created prototype for delegated ZK proving in the miner. This experimental feature will allow miners to opt into proof aggregation for wormhole transactions as an additional role.
  • Addressed HashCloak and Eiger audit findings.

Network & Infra:

  • Shipped GUI miner update with redemption and balance features for the Planck testnet. Download and walkthrough at docs (dot) quantus (dot) com
  • Deployed AI-based security audit framework across all pull requests. Completed the first automated full-chain security review.
  • Pen-tested RPC nodes.

Web & Mobile App Updates:

  • Implemented miner reward screen and point-of-sale screen in the wallet.
  • Optimized expensive explorer query and updated unified account events.
  • Mobile app fixes.

Content & Partnerships:

  • Chris Smith in Observer: “Bitcoin’s quantum computing governance problem.”
  • Published Curtis Yarvin podcast episode across all platforms.
  • Onboarded 30+ people to the Quantus app and 10+ miners at Network School.
  • Shipped GUI app mining guide to docs (dot) quantus (dot) com
  • Confirmed Balaji as Q-Day speaker.
